Online Dating Tips: Do’s Don’ts and What to Expect
I do not agree with Wendy at all. I will gladly go a couple months of dates without so much as reaching for the check, for a couple of reasons. 1. With all the ways in which women are doing historically men’s roles these days, I think it’s an easy way to make a guy feel like he is in control and pursuing the girl. Call me old fashioned but a few measly traditions aren’t going to hurt womens’ advancements. I’ll keep my law degree and high paycheck and good job - you can cover the $35 dinner once a week for a few dates.
2. I can take care of myself AND the guy, and if things work out and he can get through a couple successful months’ worth of footing the courtship bill without bitching or bailing because of dinner and movie ticket money, things will pay off for him as well. My boyfriend paid for everything the first couple months of dating and just as I felt he was enough of a take charge, in control guy that I could keep around long term, he got laid off. I bought dinner and/or made dinner on my dime every night for him for the couple of months he was unemployed. I knew all along things would be returned IF things got serious, so I don’t care that it cost him a lot up front. besides, if I like you and youre only in it for the action, at leats you’ll bail fast knowing I might cost some $$ and effort to entertain.
